This is a little wallhanging class I am teaching at Quilter’s Paradise in February.

Today was a good day! My friend Liz was in town visiting her family. We picked persimmons & ran some errands. Later I went to the grocery store to make lasagna and pizza pasta. I also need to make banana bread and persimmon cookies, of course! But right now I am in my jammies and thinking how nice it would be to eat an entired red velvet cupcake all to myself. These things are huge! (I stopped by the bakery on my way home from the grocery store.) “The weather outside is frightful” it’s fixin to storm, but I actually looooove the thought of that. Any time it rains, I am happy. Just love it. Well, I need to bake, cook, and sew some potholders. Not as last minute, scrambling gifts but just for fun. I borrowed this pattern from my friend Barbara so I just want to play!

Jeannie’s isn’t really “scrappy” but it still works!

Okay, so you cut your scraps into tidy squares of either 5″, 3 1/2″, or 2″ and then every month this Scrap Therapy “program” has a new pattern using just those cuts and then a background. It sounds harmless, but it’s frickin insane. You will never, ever use up all your scraps. You will never, ever cut alllll those piles of fabrics laying around into the required dimensions. And the monthly patterns are not mindless, quick processes. No, they are tricky & rigorous. This month is a scrappy friendship star but not a normal basic friendship star. This block uses those 2″ squares to get a secondary pattern when the rows are joined. It’s insane, I tell you. I have other things I could be doing like playing Farmville & harvesting my make-believe produce. Well, here are three versions of the same pattern.
